So far I like it quite a bit. It has been easier to set up than I thought, though I've spent about a day emptying my old phone, getting all my contacts from my other phone & gMail into this one, finding converters for .avi -> mp4 (for movies) and .wav ->.m4a (for ringtones), and generally figuring out how it works. I even successfully geocached with it today.
I didn't want to get a case for it but I really need one. I didn't realize how heavy they are. It's not actually heavy, but the weight is a little annoying if I'm talking on it for a long time or if I want to hold it to my ear with my shoulder or something. It's kind of slippery too; I'm sure to drop it eventually. And by "eventually" I mean "soon."
I do miss MMS but emailing pictures is ok. I'm glad I can send pictures to LJ. Really, I'm pretty thrilled with the device. It's day 2 though so I'll let you know more in a week.
I'm really looking forward to it showing me the current traffic for the drive home from work.

A fantastic video converter is called SUPER.

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

You have to find the link through a bunch of BS marketing mumbo jumbo, but it's the best damned free converter I've found.

For your ringtones, you can also use AAC files if I'm not mistaken. Try this:

"Windows users can edit audio files with the free [program] Audacity. Pick the 20 to 30 seconds you want to use as your ringtone, and save the file as an MP3.

Next, add the shortened file to your iTunes library, then right-click on it in iTunes and choose "Convert to AAC." The clip will need to be an AAC file in order to be used as a ringtone.

Finally, change the file extension to .m4r, and move the AAC to the "Ringtones" folder in your music library."

I'm glad to hear you're loving it. :)
